Telecom Station Power System Upgrade Project in Uzbekistan

Project Background

In recent years, 5G coverage has been expanding in major cities and tourist centers across Uzbekistan. In response, the client (a telecom operator in Uzbekistan) has been building new communication base stations and upgrading existing ones. 

In the field of telecommunications, the core challenges of lead-acid batteries include large space requirements, poor environmental tolerance, insufficient functionality of monitoring systems, short lifespan, and harmful gas emission. In comparison, lithium batteries offer significant advantages over lead-acid batteries. With benefits in high power density, high safety, high reliabilty and long lifespan, lithium batteries are increasingly becoming the preferred choice in fields such as data centers and communication base stations. 

Due to the multiple advantages of lithium batteries over traditional lead-acid batteries, the client has decided to use lithium battery power systems in its newly built stations and to upgrade the power systems in existing stations from lead-acid batteries to lithium ones.

 

Vision Telecom Power Solution

To meet the client's need for upgrading the power system from lead-acid to lithium batteries in its base stations, Vision offered a telecom power solution consisting of multiple parallel-connected V-LFP 48V 150Ah lithium batteries. Additionally, the power system is equipped with a built-in GPS tracker and Vision's cloud management system, protecting the batteries from theft. 

 

Advantages of V-LFP 48V Standard Series

V-LFP 48V Standard Series is a type of lithium battery pack developed by Vision for telecom field with multiple advantages. 

 1.  High Energy Density
With high energy density, the batteries can store and deliver more energy, ensuring consistent and stable power in areas with unstable grid electricity.

 2.  Redundant Safety Design
 ● Built-in BMS actively monitors the health and status of the battery pack.

 ● Automatic protection for overcharge and overdischarge.

 ● Overtemperature protection monitors temperature levels to prevent overheating during charging or discharging cycles.

 ● Built-in Fire Protection Module actively monitors and prevents any risk of fire due to short-circuits or overheating.

 3.  Intelligent Design
The built-in GPS tracker provides real-time location tracking of the battery system, ensuring the saftey of the system.

4. Remote Monitoring
Remote battery monitoring is essential for maintenance and system health. The V-LFP 48V Standard Series lithium batteries are equipped with RS485 communication for remote monitoring and control, enabling data transmission over distances up to 1,200 meters without significant signal loss.

 5.  Small & Light
The V-LFP 48V Standard Series lithium batteries are small and weight, which saves space and enables easy deployment in weight-sensitive areas like telecom towers.

 

Project Outcomes

The power supply system designed by Vision has improved the reliability and continuity of the communication services offered by this telecom base station. With safety features, remote monitoring, and high safety and stability, the power system ensures the uninterrupted operation of the base station and also helps save costs on maintenance.
